A few days ago In the morning I woke up and went birding from our terrace, where I picked up common species, but still interesting and fun to see. I had a few cool ORIENTAL GREENFINCHES fly in a nearby tree and I was able to capture a shot of one of them! Here's the photo below. Life bird 288!
Later that day we went on a beautiful hike to a swimming hole. Like last time's swimming hole, the water was very cold since it came out of a cave where there is no sunlight to warm it up. At the beginning of the hike I saw this Grey Heron sitting on the edge of the river.
We arrived at the swimming hole and my dad, my sister, and I decided to go into the water. Just as I was wading in I saw a robin sized bird dart across the swimming hole and flew towards the cave. "White Throated Dipper!" I screamed. I was not 100% percent sure that it was a dipper, but it seemed dipper size and this is dipper habitat. I immediately darted out of the water, grabbed my binocs, and ran back into the cold water hoping to get a view of the bird. Darn! the bird was not in view, so I ran back out of the water, walked on rocks and glass barefoot, scaled a cliff, and then FINALLY I spotted the bird! "Bingo," I said. The bird was indeed a beautiful WHITE THROATED DIPPER. After I got a good look at the bird, I ran back down, grabbed my camera, and took shots of the Dipper. Unfortunately this was the best shot I got. The Dipper is pretty cool, I watched the bird stand on rocks in the cave and then watched it dive into the water. It's an interesting bird lifer 289!
We hiked back and I was glad to see that White Throated Dipper. The hike was also a nice hike and I had a great day birding!
