A unique thing about Hanoi is that some of the streets are named after the things that they sell. Here is a picture of me, my dad, and my sister on Shoe Street.
In Hanoi the traffic is worse than the traffic in downtown Chicago during rush hour. Most people drive motorbikes, and if one bike is too close to the next, be prepared to get nudged out of the way by the other driver's foot. It's crazy to think, but my dad has a Vietnamese foster brother, Minh. Dad was curious to see what Uncle Minh's life was like when he was a kid, so my dad moved to Hanoi for 7 months. He even had his own motorbike! People also carry an insane amount of things on the back of their bikes. Take this guy carrying beer for example.
Our last place in Vietnam was Ho Chi Mihn City. I think this city is twice the size of Hanoi. But again, our resort was awesome. It was not luxury, but there were so many amenities. There was a tennis court, a grocery store, a pool, a restaurant, a playground, a café, etc. My favorite thing that happened during our stay was that I was able to grab a bite at the café for breakfast, then bird the property for awhile. I saw my life bird YELLOW VENTED BULBUL, an abundant species on the property.
